I grew up near the American
River, in Sacramento, California. Looking back, I realize I took for
granted the special treasure that we have running through our city.
Fishing, hiking, biking, swimming and running into deer and coyotes
seemed normal. I realize now, that this is far from the truth. My artistic
aim is to reveal the places and moments that people often miss.
With my camera in hand I like to wander, letting chance determine the
sites I will see. Working from photographs allows me to enjoy the act
of exploring that plein air would not. Late at night the photos become
more than they were through paint and brush. Color and stroke define
the feeling of the place that photos cannot. I hope to inspire my viewers
to find the beauty that lies all around them.
"Art to me is an act of exploration.
I enjoy never knowing what it is that I will find. There is an excitement
there; that is essential for me. Without it, I would not create.
